on sale at circuit city for $899 (after $100 rebate), you also get a gift card (worth 10% of your purchase price, $99). is this a good buy? any comment on this tv? thanks..

This would probably be better answered in the forum I'm going to move it to...

The 30" Samsung seems to be just about the lowest priced widescreen HDTV out there these days. $999 is the usual price, I think. I would say that's a pretty good deal, but don't expect the world's greatest HD image out of it. However, this is only based on my experience playing around with it in a few stores. I have heard it is good with DVDs, but not so good with broadcast signals.

"Lowest priced" means something - you get what you pay for. Personally, I don't buy Samsung products anyway - they advertise like they are a high quality product, but their electronic stuff seems to fail quite often.

I have a Samsung 30" WS and we think it's pretty great. Our broadcast doesn't look great, but it's digital cable and it looks like crap.

I've had this TV for about 6 months, and I absolutely love it. Just know what you're getting. I knew I wanted this mainly for widescreen DVDs, and HDTV---and both of those look completely fantastic on this set. Regular digital cable doesn't look that great, and if you're watching a 4:3 signal, the picture size is only 24". If you watch a lot of regular TV, this might not be the best choice for you, but if your preference is DVDs and HDTV channels, then I would definitely recommend this set.
