HDTV problem: does it need fixing or just adjustments?

My Toshiba rear-projection HDTV has developed a problem over the last few days and I don't know if it's one that will work itself out (since it's so new), one I need to adjust something, or one that just needs repairing.

The right third of the TV has a ghosting image. It's the most obvious while using TiVo functions. Especially the timer bar. The left side of the bar is a crisp 00:00, the right side has ghosting appearing behind the numbers. While watching TV, DVDs, and HD, varying levels of ghosting and fuzzy imaging occurs on the right side of the screen. TV is the worst, with HD being the best. But, it's still there throughout everything I watch.

The TV is only about 6 weeks old and I have all kinds of warranty protection on it. Do I wait and see if it clears up or give BB a call right now for a repair? Thanks!

Since the set is under a manufacturer's warranty right now I'd call Toshiba to come fix it.

Have you tried adjusting your set's convergence settings? The red and blue convergence on my Mitsu RPTV still tend to drift a little and require occasion tweaking. I've had the set for about 6 weeks. I think this is common with new RPTV's through a "break-in" period.

I was wondering that as well. I'm pretty sure it has auto-convergence though, but I'll check the menu tonight and see if I can tweak it at all.

Now that I think about it, you're right: it's more of a red and blue thing than ghosting. I hope it's easy to fix, cause it's rather annoying!

Convergence seemed to be the problem and it's now back to normal. Thanks

There's just soooo much to learn when it comes to HDTVs.
