directv vs digital cable

mods: feel free to move this into the proper forum since i wasnt sure where it should go.

anyways, im moving soon and im deciding between the two. which do you guys think is better?

ive had digital cable before and i liked it except channel changing is slow (yes i hate that) and it doesnt offer as much as directv, so ive heard.

im not sure of the price difference - which is generally cheaper?

and with directv my main concern would be (a) hooking it up and (b) getting intereference from weather and such. ive heard that you need to get the dish and it has to face south...well what if my apartment has no view of south (since im still looking to where im going to move...havent picked an aparmtent yet)? can i basically not get directv then? when it rains do you lose reception?

which is easier to use (to order stuff or channel menus and program guides)? which has better customer support?

any info and recommendations are highly appreciated!
