Progressive scan or upconvert?
If I buy a TV that has 2:3 pulldown and upconverts 480i to 480p does that eliminate the need for a progressive scan DVD player? Is it better to have the player do it or the TV? Can you use both together and double a 480p input?

Generally the player will do a better job of deinterlacing since it can do it in the digital domain before the signal is converted to analog. Different TVs have widely different abilities in this regard.
If the player is outputting progressive the TV doesn't do any of that type of processing on it. But the set very well may convert the signal to other formats such as 540p or 1080i that it is designed to be able to natively display. That process can introduce scaling artifacts and should be considered before purchase.
