My Player Problem - Which to choose?

I am currently trying to decide between 2 DVD players...each has it's own advantages...I am making this a poll but I am pretty sure I know which will win:

Choice #1: Panasonic RP-62 - No Chroma bug Price about $100

Choice #2: Toshiba SD3900 - This is (essentially) a multi region player with PAL--->NTSC conversion built in...According to VCDHELP.COM it plays SVCD and even XSVCD. Price about $85

I would go for the all-code, especially if you plan on getting a lot of non-R1 discs.

RP-62 all the way if it is an older build without a "B" in the serial number. The non-"B" units have the Faroudja chip. The Toshiba also has the chroma bug.

You can also buy region mod kits for the RP62 from www.jvbdigital.com

Is it a "B" anywhere in the SN or just at the end?

It will output a PAL signal, but you will need a PAL capable display.

A little surprising, I would have guessed it would go the other way...but I am leaning toward the Toshiba, unless someone talks me out of it before Friday.

Dr. Dean I went for a manual switching (RCE) JVC XVS500BK and I am not sorry. Mod has X, Y scalng on PAL discs and built in converter to convert PAL to ouput as NTSC on any HDTV.

If you set for interlaced 'not' the mod hard wired Progressive Scan, you could put a PAL movie on your 27 inch analog TV if you wanted to.

BTW I own a Toshiba SD-4800 and can't find a region free mod, the JVC works so fine so who needs another one?
