Best MP3 capable progressive DVD player?

Hope this hasn't been asked before. MP3 and DVD are hard to search for.

I'm looking for a decent progressive DVD player that can play MP3 CDs as well. Cost is important.

I currently have a Apex 600A and can't stand the MP3 menu so if any have a better menu system, that is a big plus.

I only have a 27" CRT TV right now but will be upgrading to a 16:9 sometime this year.

Have a look at any of the Panasonic players, they do a very nice job of handling MP3.

What about the Panasonic DVD-RP62K? Crutchfield has it for $130. Is the only thing missing the DVD audio and a digital coax output?

Does the mp3 menu show all the characters? (Apex has trouble displaying punctuation and won't display more than 8 characters per song)

I have the Panasonic CP67, which is basically the same as the RP62, but in a 5-changer format. It works great with MP3s. Song titles are given more than enough characters on the on-screen display. Also, when you create a MP3 CD, you can put the songs in separate folders on the disc, and the player will recognize those folders & let you navigate thru them like a computer.

If you are getting a RP62, you might as well get the CP67. The CP67 is the same price - $129 after a mail-in rebate from Crutchfield.

The big downside of the CP67 is that it doesn't play DVD-Audio or DVD-RAM. This may or may not be important to you. If you want those capabilities, you need to look at the CP72.

Thanks. DVD-Audio and DVD-RAM aren't very important too me.

One thing the 72 does that the 67 doesn't is 4:4:4 processing (I think - panasonics site went down as I was reading it). Is this important? I gather it has something to do with color sampling.

Edit: only the 82 does 4:4:4 processing.

The specs from the Panasonic website are wrong. They are screwed up for all their players.

If DVD-A and DVD-Ram don't matter, then the cheapest option for a Panasonic progressive scan player for MP3 is the 62. If you don't need progressive scan, have a look at the Panasonic RV-32 ($80 after a $20 mail in rebate).

Just bought the RP 62 at Best Buy for $109 + taxes. This was an open box item. Plays great.
