Need Advice on This one
Okay, I have a Sharp DV-S1, cheap dvd player. On some of the discs I own, the synch slips within the first 20 mintues. Pretty annoying. I have the RCA chords going from the back of the DVD player to my TV. I bought a digital chord for the digtial coaxial output on the DVD player. Is there anything I can use to plug this into besides a receiver? I just want to go into the tv. Audio isn't that crucial to me, except when it's out of synch. Any help would be appreciated.

The purpose of the digital coax out is to send the digital signal to a decoder (receiver). Unless your TV can do this you will not be able to decode the signal.
The audio is a major portion of the DVD. You do not realize what you are missing without a receiver.

Thanks for the feedback, can you recommend a reasonably priced receiver?

Lots of choices from Sony, Onkyo, Denon and Yamaha both online and in local stores.
