what's wrong?

For some reason, my dvd player isnt working. it was working fine everyday until it just screwed up. I thought it was my dvd player's fault (it is an Apex 1200), but my dreamcast didnt work either. In fact, the only thing that worked was my gamecube, which only worked because of the S-video cord (I tried to plug it in without the S-video cord, and it didnt work). Nothing else is used with an S-video cord. Even normal television doesnt come out. Everything is the same (except for my gamecube); black fuzzy screen, and only sound comes out. My dvd player worked just fine in my second television. Also (if this is related), I found out that my speaker system (computer speakers that are hooked up to my televion, not a receiver) doesnt even turn on anymore. Therefore, it might be because of my outlets (it started not working during heavy rain). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nothing, I'm fine thanks. As far as your equipment, I've read it three times and still having trouble understanding. Best rule of thumb is to isolate. Take your equipemnt somewhere else and see if it works.

you say it doesn't work, do you mean it's not turning on? or you just can't see a picture? and you don't have a receiver just speakers hooked up to the tv? is this throught the headphone jack on your tv? it sounds more like mixed up input problems to me..

Check all your connections, etc. Sounds like you are saying that the only thing displaying picture is the GC, and it is the only item hooked up S-Video. All others are hooked up composite (Standard RCA) and they were working but are not now that you had a storm. If that's the case, try hooking up your other items to the S-Video and see what happens, then hook up to another TV via the composite.

It may be that your TV's composite input is fried for some reason. You might try switching cables, etc, to isolate the problem.

In any case, if everything works using S-video instead, just buy S-video cables, and a switcher if necessary and convert. It'll be an improvement anyway.

Sounds like the speakers may also be fried.

I'd say you probably took a power hit, but I've never heard of it frying the input on the TV. Usually it hits the power supply.
