how to replace faceplate on a receiver? -- help!

I just got a replacement faceplate (as in covering the display) for my Kenwood VR 507 due to greasy-fingered repair people.

I need to know if I am supposed to just pop the old one off, or take the cover off the receiver? Looking at the new one, it seems to just have clips on it. But they kind of look like "don't want to come back off once they're on" clips.

Anyone have any ideas/experience to share?

Thanks.

Thanks. They didn't have anything for my receiver, and I also don't think I'd want to pay 29.95 for a service manual. Was there free content that you were implying that I missed?

Did you get the new faceplace from Kenwood?

Did they have any info on how to remove the old one?

I got the faceplate from Kenwood. Well actually Sears ordered it for me. It came in the mail with no instructions.

Here's a pic of the clips:

No, no free content. I've ordered manuals from them in the past with good results. I don't know anywhere you can go for free to get the info.

Not sure if it indicates how to remove the faceplate (probably not)

ftp://docs.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/OM...-2001-KUSA.pdf

or the FTP site

ftp://docs.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/OM...-2001-KUSA.pdf

Main manual page for them is

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/support/manual.jsp

Thanks sniper308. I've already got the manual though. It doesn't say anything about replacing parts.

I called Kenwood and they said that Sears should do it. I called Sears and they said it would take *another* 3-4 weeks to get that fixed. And the same people that smudged up the last one would be doing it. I don't really trust them. I'm about ready to take it apart myself. I'm pretty good with electronics short of soldering.

Here's a pic of the clips I'm talking about. pic
