I have a Philips FR 975 receiver and it is hooked up to my computer and I have a program that is an alarm that wakes you up with a song on a playlist. and my question is it ok to leave my reciever on all night?

With computers there are 2 thoughts on this:
1) Starting/stopping the machine causes wear on solder joints causing premature wear, so it is better to leave on.
2) Leaving the machine on causes premature wear on mechanical parts (fans, etc) so it is better to turn off.
I don't know if your receiver has mechanicla parts. Have you seen how warm the receiver gets when on, but not being used? I would check that.

I leave the power amps on in my 2 channel system since they take a good while to warm up. I turn off the receiver in my HTS; it runs warm and I'm concerned about possible heat damage to the chip set.
