Panasonic Finally Gives In?
My first DVD player was the Panasonic A310. While it was still under the factory warranty it locked up and had to be repaired. After it was no longer under warranty, it started having problems skipping. Many other owners reported problems of this nature apparently caused by a faulty optical tracking unit.
The $125 repair cost upset enough owners and a suit was filed against Panasonic. About 6 months ago I got a letter saying I had signed up somewhere to be part of this suit. If Panasonic was found liable I could either get a credit for $125 towards the purchase of a new player or get an extended warranty. Since my wife really liked the player I opted for the extended warranty.
Amazingly, I finally received an extended warranty card 5 years after I originally purchased this DVD player. If anyone else has had a problem w/ their early Panasonics you may finally be able to get it resolved.

I bought this infamous player years ago and it pissed me off to no end. In fact, after several trips through rush-hour traffic to the "service center" to face off with blase reps, I got so frustrated I drove to an abandoned building near my house, climbed up the rickety staircase and threw the damn thing off the roof. I got Office Space on it's ass.
Now they're offering money? That actually makes it worse. People were complaining for years online about the A310 an they continually denied anything was wrong. now that most people have gotten rid of their cursed players, they admit the truth.
F you, Panasonic. I'll never buy anything from you again.

they work flawless for me. as for the A310...i dont know, sucks for panasonic to release such a crappy product. i'd still support them though. somebody's got to stand up to Sony. samsung though has been coming on pretty strong.
