Should I sell my Sony DVP-S7700 or...
hold on to it and just buy a progressive multi-region DVD player, and use the 7700 to play cds. Since these are not selling for that much, I'm thinking I should just keep it and use it for playing cds. It has great sound, and probably the best I have ever heard, second only to my Carver TLM-3600 cd player.
What do you people think?

* you have space for it
* it's worth more to you than the money you'd get for it
* you have an input on your receiver for a new dvd player
* you value the convenience of having a separate cd player (and a backup in case one breaks)
I say keep it.

Unfortunately you waited a little late to trade up. I'm in a similar situation with my S9000ES which replaced your model but has since been replaced by the 999ES which supports even more data formats. It will be hard to sell it though. I really love the build quality of the pre-999ES units.
I say keep it as bedroom player or as you mentioned, a CD player.

Thanks for tips guys. I have an AVR-5700, so I still have a few inputs left that are free for using.
I'm gonna just keep it I think, and probably as a bedroom player like dgc mentioned.

Why not buy an ISCANPRO line doubler, they used to go for 1000.00, you can get one on ebay for like 400.00 and it will make the 7700 better than most progressive scan dvd players. The 7700 does have the Chroma bug, but still this would let you continue to use it, and not take the big loss. I just ordered a 7000 because of no chroma issue, but the ISCANPRO is awesome with the component inputs.
