3:2 Pulldown...
My situation is....I'm looking to get a new television, so I'm going to go to best buy for their 24 months no financing deal and get a TV there. I wanted the Samsung 30" Widescreen HDTV...model TXM3097WHF, but Best Buy does not carry it. They do have the one before it though...TXM3096WHF...for 100 dollars less. There are some small differences, but the main one I noticed was that the older model does not have 3:2 pulldown....so my question is....is 3:2 pulldown REALLY important? I'd like to have it, but I also really want to get a TV from Best Buy with 24 months no financing. Furthermore...couldn't I possibly just get a DVD player that has 3:2 pulldown to solve the problem if I get the older model? Or does it not work that way? Thanks for any help ahead of time. I greatly appreciate the imput.

no interest till Jan, 2004 = 12 months (1 year)
no interest till Jan, 2005 = 24 months (2 years)

To answer your question, yes you can just get a progressive scan player that supports 3:2 pulldown. The quality of implimention, however, varies---you may want to try several players with your TV to see which performs best.

Getting a progressive scan DVD player solves your problem as far as DVD content is concerned. You would still have to worry about what to do with broadcast TV and other non-DVD sources. If these are not important to you, don't spend the extra money. If you'd like everything to look fairly nice, 3:2 pulldown is worth the extra expense.
Here is a nice long article with everything you will ever need to know about 3:2 pulldown:

You have 30 days to return a purchase. Just go in and ask them how it needs to be handled. They will change the financing offer for you. Just make sure that you have your receipt in hand. They will most likely treat it as a return (credit) and then a new charge with the new financing offer.
I don't think 24 months financing was available when I order so that won't work. The operator told me to call the store to find out. WTF?
My tv is scheduled to deliver this comming week, but if I reorder, they might not have units avaiable in my area. Which means that if I cancel my order I might not bget the tv in the forseeable future from BB.

I bought it last week(TXM3096WHF) and I must say I am very impressed with it.
The Widescreen picture hooked up to my Progressive Scan Malata DVD player is amazing!! Digital cable is what I have and the picture is very good. Some day I will get the HDTV box but I'm very pleased with my purchase and I even got it $150 off of the $999. It was an open box item with full warranty... temptation set in and I had to get it and I will say I love the thing!!
What is pretty cool is if you watch TV in the Panorama setting it fills the whole screen and looks pretty good that way. Not too stretched out I mean.

Call customer service 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289) and explain the situation. Also mention that you would 'hate' to have to return the TV and reorder just to get what is rightfully due to you (by their own policy). They'll work it out for you. If not, then do just as I have said, return/cancel it and reorder! They won't run out of TV's, nor will they want to have to restock your's and re-ship at their expense! Patience my friend. Those in a hurry can't complain if they don't get the deal!

Just be careful with 24-mo financing. You MUST pay every penny within the 24 months.
If you have even 1 cent left in the balance for 5 minutes after the 24 months is up, they will charge you interest for the entire 24 months on the entire purchase, at 25% or whatever their outrageous interest rate is.
(If you have any remaining balance after the 24 months, you give up the "no financing" and are paying interest for the full 24 months.)
If you buy a $2000 TV and forget all about it and get your statement on the 25th month, you will owe more than $3000.
