Help: Audiosource SW15 Questions!!!

Ok, I've got a couple questions for owners of this sub.

1) The sub has L and R inputs for the sub channel, and neither is clearly marked with a mono input. Can I run my sub cable into either input or do I need to get a y adapter and split the signal in order to get the best sound. The instruction manual shows the hook-up using a y-cable.

2) I want to modify this baby, but I can't seem to figure out how to, errr..., get the cabinet off.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just received mine today, so I'm still tweaking it. I hooked it up with a Monster y-adapter. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Namrufmot, one of the reviews at audioreview.com said that using a y-adapter instead of a single input made a world of difference. Have you actually compared this yourself, or are you just going by what works for other subs?

HoNuts,
How is the tweaking going? I added speakerfill which definitely tightened up the bass, but it doesn't seem like much air is coming out of the ports. I'm wonder how much space you left around them and whether that makes a difference. thanks.

FYI: Audio Source SW Fifteen - Owner’s Manual
Line In (page 2)
These RCA jacks are designed to accept a line level signal from a receiver, pre-amp, surround sound decoder or similar device. When using a single line level output from another unit, a Y connector should be used to send the signal to both the left and right inputs. (Using the tape loop of a receiver or preamp is not recommended. Tape jacks typically send a constant level, regardless of the volume setting, unlike preamp outputs. This will affect the balance between the subwoofer and the rest of the system.)
