Audio problem, please help !

Hi

I have a ddw-840 sony receiver and a malata996 dvdplayer

When I play a 5.1 DTS dvd, the multi-channel sound works fine but when I play a dvd in dolby digital 5.1, the rear channels dont work, it is only played with pro-logic instead. It worked great before but now It doesn't for some reasons

Anyone know how I might solve this problem ?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Not familiar with the Malata player settings, but some DVD players allow you to specifically set the DTS and Dolby Digital audio out settings. Try checking your menu settings and see if the Dolby Digital setting (or its equivalent) is set to PCM instead of bitstream or digital or something like that. PCM is a 2 channel digital signal that will show up as pro logic on most receivers.
