solid but affordable dvd player?
im not looking for the best dvd player out there but are there any solid dvd players for like 100 bucks or so i could pick up. right now i just want something that will last and not mess up or give me a drastic drop off in quality.
later on when i save up cash i want to get a really good one.

I have a Toshiba 2109 for several years now. If you don't plan to watch the extras on DVDs, then it's a good solid player. But this player has a lot of problem with playing DVD extras. Problems ranging from simple pixelation problem to outright freeze which requires turning off/on power to reset the player. As far as playing the movie itself, the player works very well. Only has problem with a few titles including the recently released Spellbound Criterion DVD.

Vanns.com has the JVC XV-S500BK for $109 in the Clearance section, including free shipping. Not only that, but it comes with a free 'Reservoir Dogs' DVD!
I just bought the XV-S600BK from them last week, and I love it! (It's the same as the 500, but it plays DVD-Audio as well. It's available for $169, and comes with 2 free DVDs!)

I swear by Panasonic players. All the 'problem' discs that other players have trouble with run flawless on my Pannys. Solid and affordable.
