Suggest a good HTIB for under $400

I'm looking for a Home Theatre in a Box system because I can't have a loud and expensive system. I just want good sound for movies and TV at a resonable price. Not looking for top of the line equipment. Any suggestions?

Check out Kenwood's line of HTIB. They have some of the best sounding systems and good value for your money.

There is a bunch of new stuff coming for Jan. if you can wait. If not look for a real two way design which most are not. You want to avoid the single full range driver which is the same quality as a standard tv has. Also look at the receiver. Most are cost reduced htib only models. Some use receivers straight from their standard line. This is good if you later want to upgrade your speakers.

Can you be more specific about the new stuff coming out in January? I'm on the verge of getting Onkyo's HT-S650 for about $500. Every review or comment I've read about it has been positive, but should I wait for whatever it is you're referring to?

i've got the precursor to that one, mine doesnt have dplII. got it last year for 270 at bj's....it is nice, even on non-digital sources. Lord of the Rings through it was incredible : )
then again, it's the only one I have really had experience with, so....But I have enjoyed it.
I actually don't really know what bfrank means, so I am obviously not a big home theater wiz; but the Kenwood HTB 205 price was right, it was reasonably easy to setup, and definitely adds a lot to a dvd experience.

Nothing extra special. But the new systems will most likely be cheaper so no big deal.

Kenwood HTB-205

Also saw this Yamaha YHT-300 at BB for $400. It is the only lower end system that mentions Dolby Digital Matrix 6.1 and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1. I also like it because the sats are 2-way. Any opinions on this one?

I have an RCA
something like 2500 (I'm at work so can't check)
I think it's a good value priced system although a lot of people here bash the RCA systems

Sams club now has the next system up from mine for less than I paid for mine. they started carrying it about a month after I got mine
