Picture/Audio Quality...
Hello....
Ok, I just bought a new Panasonic RP82. Now, the picture and audio quality is top-notch... BUT, when i see other cheap players, like Daewoo 3000n or Akai DVPS-760, they are cool because they can be hacked via the remote - which is tempting, BUT will the picture/audio quality be the same on a cheap player as it is with a top of the line name brand player? Has anyone done a side by side comparison? I mean, i would assume that the picture/audio would be somewhat less -- but i just wanted to make sure...
Thanks,
Matt

It depends on your TV. Generally speaking, Audio/Video quality is usually the main difference between cheap and expensive players. However, if you've got a no frills 27" TV set or something similar, it may be very hard for you to tell the difference as opposed to watching the same player connected to a 60" HDTV.

Well,
I have a 60inch Tv in the Great Room that has it's own Sony DVD player-- but this DVD player is for a regular Admiral 27inch TV in my room (it's the 4th ACTIVE dvd player in my house...haha). Since it's Prog. Scan, i plan on using it when i move out and get an HDTV -- but then again, i have gone through 3 dvd players in the last 2 years -- so i may have something new at that time anyway.....**sigh

I doubt you'd see much of a difference in players with the Admiral, I have one of those too. Maybe a little more or less artifacting, but turning down the softness of the TV would pretty much eliminate that.

I think you've run the gamut on "So I bought a RP82" and "Tell me about region hacks for dvd players" threads.
