Player Recommendations
There has been a lot of discussion which DVD Player is the best and worst, features, etc. and what people recommend. I apologize for those who are tired of this sort of thread but I'm going to ask for help too. I'm hoping with the list of things I'm looking for someone can recommend a relatively inexpensive unit ($100-$250). Here are the specs I'm looking for:
- progressive scan
- component output
- x-y scaling (if possible to compensate overscanning)
- Dolby Digital AND DTS decoder built in
I've looked at the Malata DVP-520 which seems to be highly recommended minus a few problems here and there (unfortunately no one has elaborated on the things the don't like... and what the hell is the "shimmering" people keep talking about on Tartan DVD's???). The only thing I'm not sure of on this unit is how the picture quality is compared to Sony or Panasonic, etc. I also know it doesn't have the DTS decoder that I'm looking for.
So my question to you very smart and well informed folk is what player to you recommend that meet the specs I'm looking for? Thanks for any help one can share.
