question about some inherited speakers
I recently got two floor standing Polk SDA 1B's. All i know is that these speakers sound incredible.
My question is, though, can I integrate these speakers into my surround sound system? I currently have the JBL simply cinema 5.1 setup and a Sony STR-DE975 receiver.
Here are some of the 1B's specs:
Freq.= 14Hz-26,000Hz
10-500 watts/channel
Impedance= 4 ohms
Max Out= 122db
Efficiency=92db
I don't know if any of the information is helpful, but will adding these speakers to my setup aid the home theater experience? or should I set them up as "B" speakers for good stereo sound? Thanks for any help.

thanks for the response. i'm not back in chicago yet to try it out, but, if it is a problem, will these speakers be worth an upgrade of the center channel?

Speakers are very personal and IMHO they are the most important part of the a/v system.
I am not a fan of Polk but if you like them you may want to price out a centern channel.

Greetings TL, and everyone else
Those SDA's are INCREDIBLE speakers! I have been a "Polkguy"
all my life,having owned several different pairs,as well as all the pairs I have now.
Having said that,I may be a bit biased-but would suggest using the SDA's as your mains and look into a cs1000p or cs400i center chnl, as these would match well.
Check out www.polkaudio.com - look around a bit,they have a section where there are suggestions on matching "vintage" models with newer models.
If U are anything like me,this change could turn into upgrade itise
and u will end up going broke!
also the Sony will not do those SDA's justice-this as well as everything else is MHO. good luck,and if you don't like them,I will take them off your hands for a small fee

thanks for the enthusiasm. unfortunately i don't have 1000 bucks to splurge on the matching center speaker, but i certainly wish i did. my jbl's already dominate my apartment, and i know that these polk's will probably dominate the entire building. but i guess i will try it integrate the speakers and if its too out of whack with the sound setup then i will just leave them as stereo speakers for music until i can afford to upgrade my system. once again thanks to you and brian shannon.

no problem
Just a thought - u can probably find the cs400i on ebay or even
open box at cc for about 200.00 - it's an awesome center (I have one)
and would also mate well w/the SDA's.
but hey, If u can't u can't. again, good luck with them and ENJOY!
