Is my JVC player dying ? weird problem
This has me puzzled, unless my JVC player is slowly dying...
I have a JVC xv-s65
Put in the DVD "Ronin"
Get a No Disk error.. (tried several times.. even after unplugging for minutes)
The DVD looks fine, so I try it in my PC..
Plays in my PC, but there's one of those PCFriendly popups.. so I'm thinking that is the problem..
Just to be sure I try it in my parent's' JVC xv-s65 model (same exact model I have)
The DVD works fine in that one.. wtf?
I'm not sure what to do with my player, cause this is the only DVD that hasnt worked besides The Royal Tenenbaums (it didnt work in any player I tried.. got a replacement disk)..
Does my player probably have older firmware, or just picky ?

My SONY started doing that recently after my local video store began using stickers on the inside ring (around the center hole) for identification purposes. The new store that I go to also has them but they are just plain white whereas the original store has shiney ones. I've tried several DVDs from there and none of them seem to work all of a sudden since they began using those shiney stickers. The only other thing about my SONY is that it is one of the oder players that won't recognize CD-R's. I think there is something about the inside ring that tells my SONY if its a DVD or not and the Shiney stickers may be interfering with that.
On two of the DVD's, I removed the shiney sticker and they worked....
Go figure! Check out the inner ring to see if anything is unusual there...
