Widescreen TV's like 12 years ago..

I remember seeing widescreen TV's in stores like 10 or 12 years ago.. They were very expensive. I was just a little kid back then, and didn't know much about the technology, but were they the same as they are today? with the 16:9 ratio ?

Yes, I have one of the 1st ProScan 38 inch TV's. They were 3999.99 at the time. I have never seen a better picture on any other TV. You can just see the detail when you watch A Bug Life. Perfect is all I can say.
