I myself own a Panasonic 47" widescreen.
I often visit a site that deals with the Panasonic only HERE and you may find they are a great TV for a very good price.
The larger models are just the same, just depends on how much you want to pay.
As for other brands.Check out Best Buy or other major electronics store and then look at the prices and models.
Once you see a model you like at the right price,do a net search for that model and tons of reviews will come about.
Thats about the best way to go about it other than going to the store and having a sales guy tell you yes to every one just to make a sale.
Hope this helps

The new 2002 Panny TV's are much better than the earlier ones. The internal doubler is much improved and the units are calibrated much closer to ideal right from the factory than any of the older ones. The 53" widescreen is about $1700 shipped right now.

WOW!!!!! nice price!
I payed $1299 for my 47"
It was $1799 but I got them down, long story.
But the Panasonics seem to be doing very well in the HDTV area than most.
The prices are really good.
A 53" for what my 47" was is not bad at all! Shipped even!
Well here are a few good examples jkenn24
