The XBox & Regional Coding/PAL-NTSC Conversion
While sifting through the massive amount of material online concering dvd region encoding and how to get around it, I saw posted on several sites that the Microsoft XBox is multi-region capable - right out of the box! I don't yet own a region-restricted dvd, so can anyone confirm - or refute - the claim that the Xbox can play dvds from any region?
I realize that even if the Xbox is not region-restricted, I will still need to purchase a PAL-NTSC converter (I live in the States) in order to view most non-Region 1 titles. However, I've never even seen a PAL-NTSC converter before and I'm not sure how it would work with my Xbox and home theater setup. I've also heard that stand-alone converters are very expensive.
Any info is much appreciated!

Actually, you have it backwards
The XBox can convert Pal to NTSC out of the box, but it is NOT region free.
