Sony SA-WM40 vs. Velodyne CHT-8 Subwoofer
I picked up an open box Velodyne CHT-8 at Circuit City for $199. It sounds good, but I'm wondering if I should bring it back and get the Sony. The CHT-8 has a minimum frequency of 35hz vs 20 for the Sony, but the Velodyne amp is 350 vs 120?
Are there other factors that I need to consider? I have a relatively small apartment, which is better?

Keep the Velodyne, you got a great deal. The Sony is a nice value, but no way can it (or any cheap sub) output 20Hz at any significant volume. Velodyne makes quality subs, and you seem to be happy with it.

I've had the older model of the Velodyne (CT-80) for about 2 years now, and have been very pleased with it. I've never found it to be lacking in output. Since I live in an apartment, anything more would likely get me evicted.
Regardless, the thing I like the most about the Velodyne is that it not only puts out good sound pressure when it's called for, but it also puts out decent sound quality for a budget sub. At $199, you really can't go wrong with the Velodyne.
