Progressive Scan DVD Players in Europe.

I've been told that there are no progressive scan DVD players in the european market except for a handful made by Denon, Marantz and some others. The reason behind this is that using the progressive scan method will only work on NTSC video formats and most (if not all) of Europe is PAL.
Is this true?
If it is I'll stop buying PAL DVD's from now on and just get R1 titles, as eventually I plan on getting one of these players.

the reason is that there is no official PAL progressive "format" due to macrovision issues I believe. However, PAL progressive is possible with many players, such as the Philips Q50 and 962sa.
