Semi-newbie help with a new player
Hi all. I was hoping you could lend me some advice in a new DVD player...
Currently I have a Toshiba SD-6109C (the player that's built into the receiver). I do like it, and it has been good to me, but it can't play anything burned (CD-R, DVD-R, etc.) or MP3s. Also, it is not progressive scan.
So I am looking to upgrade my system. I have many receivers that I will be looking at, but I need help with a DVD player. I need one that has the following features:
If anyone could help me out, I would GREATLY appreciate it. My birthday is coming up and I hope to ask for a new player.
Do you have a player that meets these criteria that you just can't live without? Are there any to stay away from?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Consider the Panasonic RP-56 for around $180-250. The progressive scan video output quality beats many prog scan players costing several times as much.
It has Progressive Scan, DD and DTS output (what player doesn't nowadays), CD-R, CD-RW, VCD. Bascially everything but MP3 (not sure about DVD-R). I have an MP3 capable DVD player but I almost never use it bacause almost all players handle MP3's poorly and I find the audio quality of MP3's lacking when played through a nice hi-fi system.

EmptyG, you should also post not only the types of media it'll accept, but whether VCD, SVCD, etc. matters to you.
Panasonics typically do not play SVCDs (at least my RV31 doesn't).
