Total Home Theater Prices
No matter what I ask in this forum it seems redundant...lol, so do all of the posts, but I am possibly interested in a mid to high range entertainment system. Everything from the DVD player to the sound system and possibly a new TV.
Basically what I am looking for is suggestions on good pieces of equipment and decent prices.
Just for some extra info, most of the DVDs I watch are anime DVDs. So maybe a region free DVD player?!?! But that isn't completely necessary!
Thanks
(Once again, sorry mods if this is redundant, but I am clueless in regards to this subject!)

I have alot of advice to give but there are some things that would help answer your questions.
What kind of equipment do you have now?
If any, do you plan to reuse any of it?
How big a room?
Thanks!

Display Device:
Brands such as Mitsubishi, Toshiba, and Pioneer make great widescreen RPTV models in the $2000-3500 price range. How large is the room and how far away will you sit from the TV?
Also consider a projector if you have a very dark room. There are also many great models in the $3000-4000 price range.
Receiver:
Here are some of my favorites at a popular price point:
Onkyo SR-600 $420-450
Denon 2802 $530-600
Outlaw Audio 1050 $500
Speakers:
I recommend spending about twice the price of your receiver on a 5 speakers and a sub. For around $1000 brands such as PSB, Paradigm, B&W, Energy, and Mirage should have many wonderful options.
DVD Player:
Panasonic RP-56 $200-250 (Region 1)
As for Region Free players I keep hearing great things about the Malata 996 (progressive scan) for around $350.
So for the total price of a system you are probably looking at $4000-6000. If you want a true high end audio setup add another $1000-2500 to the total.
