Video Essentials/rear speakers question

I am trying to use VE to calibrate my speakers. When the test tone passes to the rears, is the sound supposed to come only from one speaker at a time? For me, when the tone plays at the left rear, you can still hear some sound from the right rear (not as much as the left, but some nonetheless), and vice versa. Is this normal?

In a Pro-Logic setup this would be correct as the rear channel is mono.
