TV repair question

Sometimes, lately more often than not, when I turn my TV on, all I get is a very thin line in the middle of the screen. After awhile, the picture will jump in an out and then eventually the picture will take up the full screen. I would guess that the electron gun is stuck in the center until it warms up or I whack it and then it starts scanning the entire tube.

I'm about to throw it out and buy a new one, but thought I'd check to see if this is an easy repair first. I don't think it would be, but wanted to ask.

Thanks!

IMHO with the cost of new TV's today unless yours is relatively new I think I would replace it.
