Problems With Pana A120 and replacement

Hi, After several years of very good viewing my pana A120 has decided to not read discs. The discs are usually the newer golden colored ones. I try to play it and I get the "not able to read this type of disc" blue screen but if I try several times to shut it off, turn it on, press play it will eventually read the disc. Older less packed discs work fine. Anybody know whats happening? Is it worth taking it in for repair? Once it plays its wonderful. Just annoying having to futz around for 15-20 min getting it to work. Any thoughts on a replacement. I like pana products but need one with a non fiberoptic digital sound outlet. Something that pana. has decided to leave off their machines. How about the Sony 700 progressive scan machine? Dont need a prog. scan player now, but who knows. Help. Thanks for your help

I too have had a A120 for years, although it's now my secondary DVD player. Hope it doesn't go out.

Is it still under warrantee?

There are optical to coaxial converters if you want to get one of the newer Panasonic players. Look here.

If your looking for a Panasonic DVD player with Optical AND Coaxial Digital outputs then you should look at the RP91.

I purchased a model (A-120 I think) roughly 1 1/2 years ago. It fails to read a dvd anymore. About 1 in 100 tries it will actually read a dvd.It reads an audio cd just fine. It has been replaced by a JVC model. I will not be buying your products anymore, to pay 300 dollars for equipment that only lasts 1.5 years is not smart business. The JVC vcr I have I bought in 1992, it works as good as the day I bought it. I did register the DVD player online so I should be in your database.

Isn't there a class action lawsuit agains these players? I know my A310 is part of the lawsuit and apparantly you can get an extended warranty out of it. Do a search and you should find the thread and instructions. I plan I taking my Matrix disc with me once I get that warranty and make them give me something that actually plays the disc.
