Why is my S-Video connection going out?

Lately when I watch a DVD my TV will go black like it not getting a signal.. I still get sound but the video goes out. I am not sure if it is the DVD player or the TV or ...???....the cable. I unplugged the S-Video and used the yellow video(component) to hook up the DVD player and the video returned. The yellow video was hooked up to a different video input on my TV. So is it my DVD player or is one of the video inputs on my TV going bad....

You have a bad S-Video cable. I had the same problem. If it is a monster cable take it back to where you purchased it and exchange it for another one or if you have an Ultimate Electronics, Sound Tracks, or Audio King they will take it back no questions asked and give you another one.

I'd say it's the cable as well. When one of the pins on my S-video cable broke, I would only get a black screen as well.

I will have to try the cable. The cable I am using is just one of those cheap freebies I got with the DVD player. I have had the cable about 2.5 years now.
I never touch the cable so I don't understand why it would break.... but never the less I will replace it.

Just to reiiterate the picture will go out and then sometimes come back on. I originally thought maybe my DVD player was getting to hot....

Yeah, you're probably better off buying at least one of those $5-10 Radio Shack ones...personally, I have Monster, but that's just my preference.
