Thanks For Nothing! :)

A couple of weeks back I was looking for suggestions on a HTIB for my family room in the basement. I had been considering units w/built in DVD players. After no responses, I reconsidered and bought something else.
A Yamaha YHT-18 and a Samsung MD101 DVD Player. I got Best Buy to match the $397.99(incl. shppg) online price I found and they had the Samsung on sale for $119.(Digital out and S-vid)
I think it sounds pretty good and the kids love watching Shrek(dts over DD) on it. Could use a little more punch out of the sub, especially when listening to music but I'll use my system upstairs for that.
So thanks for all the help. I realize this isn't a top of the line system but we're all happy with it so far.

Glad you are happy and sorry I did not help.

Personally I do not know anything about them.

Don't feel bad! Everyone did help, indirectly. I read thru all the other posts and came to the conclusion I didn't want to buy an all in one unit. True, the YHT-18 is a HTIB, but I think the HTR 5440 is a decent tuner for what I'm using it for. The speaker pkg isn't great, but it does the job. As I said this is being used primarily by my kids so they can watch DVD's downstairs. The Samsung wasn't my first choice, but it had the features I was looking for, Digital Out/S-Vid/Component Out, that I wanted.
I just wish I could have gotten that Toshiba 43A10 from BB for $525! Then I'd put my old JVC 26in in our bedroom, my 32in Panasonic downstairs, and the Toshiba upstairs. I'll wait till the WS HDTV's come down in price. Or maybe a Plasma if they keep getting cheaper.

Where'd you see the Samsung HTIB on the site? The site I found (http://www.bestbuy.com/HomeAudioVide....asp?m=1&cat=2) only lists a couple items, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Can't find anything else on the site.

thanks,
Tuan Jim

I picked up the DVD at the store itself.
Decent player for the $$ I think. We'll see how well it holds up to my 3 kids.

Edit: Here's the link
