Non-Modified DVD player errors, with newer movies?!?
If there’s already a thread regarding to this I apologize...
I own a multi-region DVD player. For the past few months I’ve been viewing many many titles from all around the world, but mainly region 1, since that’s what they sell in stores in the US and Canada. So yesterday I go out and purchase “The Glass House” I pop it in my DVD player and get this message from the DVD: “THIS DISK IS INTENDED FOR PLAY ON NON-MODIFIED REGION 1 PLAYERS. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS REGION 1 DISC. TO ASSURE PLAYBACK YOU SHOULD PURCHASE OR RENT A DISC DESIGNED FOR YOUR REGION AS SET FORTH BELOW” and there’s a map illustrating the countries with their respective regional codes.
Did anybody else see this?
Are all newer DVDs becoming like that?
Can some region-free DVD players bypass this?
Thanks,
KIAN

It's called RCE, Region Code Enhancement. Just another trick from the studio Nazis who apparently don't like to sell DVDs
It prevents DVDs from playing on modified players, but usually only players that are region free or select the region automatically. If you can manually choose the region first, these should work.
I don't have a multi-region player, this is just what I've picked up.

What player are you trying to play this on? Some hacked players do not bypass RCE and you have to manually tell it the region like milo bloom suggested. Others have automatic RCE bypass, but most do not.

I bought my DVD player off ebay a few months ago. It's sort of a compaq/portable no name DVD player (ACI Flex-1000B) unfortunately I don't think that I can access the Regional codes in the menu
Unless there's a hidden menu or something.
