Portable DVD Player

I travel a lot and want to get a portable DVD player. Anyone have any experience with these? Also, what's the best price I can expect to find. Any help would be awesome!

thanks!

What size screen are you think about? That's the key factor in price ranging. They can range from 5", to 5.8", to 7" to 8" and finally, the largest available has a 9" screen.

5" can be found for around $300-$500 (Panasonic lv50, lv55, and lv57)

5.8" from around $400-$600 (Panasonic lv60)

7" for around $600 to $800 (Pioneer pdv-lc10 and Panasonic lv75)

8" for around $750 to $1000 (Toshiba SDP-1500 and Sharp L80U)

9" is around $800 to $1000 (Panasonic la95)

So, tell me what price range you are thinking about and I'll see what other information I can lay on you.

Li,

Do you know which portable players also have a TV tuner included? I remember hearing about a model over seas that had this feature, but I'm not sure if it is available in the US yet?

Thanks for your help...

The only portable DVD player with a TV tuner that I know of is the Sharp DV-L90TC. From what I understand, it hasn't been made available in the U.S. That really would a nice feature for these players to include.

re:portable DVD Player

Thanks for the information. I guess my number one factor is price. I would need just the basic options, including a battery that lasted 4-5 hours (recharcheable).

If you can point me to a store with the cheap Panisonic prices, I would appreciate it! I've looked online and can't find anything under $450. I must not be looking in the right places.

Thanks!!!

How much are you looking to spend here? For under $450 you're going to have no choose but to buy online. Ok, this is what I've come up with:

I found two places that have the LV60 with a 5.8" screen and 5 hour rechargeable battery for about $440 (plus shipping)

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/electronicebuys/pandv1.html

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/1800nicebuy/pandv.html

I owned this model for a while and liked it very much. The screen is fairly good size.

There are also quite a few places online that have the LV57 (same model, but has a smaller 5" screen) for around $405-$425. Here's a list:

http://all.search.shopping.yahoo.com....99&X=2&clink=

There's also another way to do this. If you want to spend about $300 you could get an L50 for about $300 (most likely used, but there are some new if you look around). My cousin did this and his been very happy with what he got. You might want to look for an LV55 as well.

For under $450, there aren't many options. Hope I helped some. Tell me what you think.

Thank you very much Li! I did some serious looking and could not find the LV50 for under $400 -- If I'm going to pony up the cash, I might as well get the good one.

I appreciate your help!

So, you're thinking of getting the L50? Did you have any place in mind? Just trying to help you get the best deal possible.

another option?

It may not work for your situation, but I'm thinking about trying this:
The Lasonic portable DVD player from hsn.com coupled with a 5" PS1 portable screen from Interact.
Both of these devices have 12V car adapters. They won't be much good in a plane, though.

Li (or anyone for that matter)...

Can the Toshiba sdp-1000 be gotten for a reasonable price ?? And, given the age of the model, what should be considered a good deal on one ??

I recently bought the Panasonic LV-57 from Best Price Audio Video, however they don't seem to stock that one anymore. They do however have the LV-60 and if it's anything like the LV-57, I'd highly recommend it.
