My receiver is rated at 60 watts per channel. What is the highest wattage speakers that should be used with it?

A rating on speakers is a max wattage, you can power them with anything up to and for brief periods of time beyond that. Just remember that wattage is a enigmatic number on most recievers the true RMS wattage full range with very little distortion can very greatly from brand to brand and from amp to amp. Say Sunfire 60 watts is a whole lot more power than say Awia 60 watts. just some info for you. With 60 watts I would look for an effiecient speaker prolly in the 92-96dB rating, this tells you how well the speaker takes electrical current and turns it into sound. This rating is more important in your case.
