I am looking for a new pair of mains to match my Polk CS245 center and my Polk R10 rears. I need something that will go well with my center and rears, and that will produce decent sound for an average size bedroom. Any input on the R40s?

the r40's will mate well with the 245 and r10's. thess can be had at a good price now, as polk is discontuning most of their speakers, to make way for the new lines...
with all the deals right now, you may want to look at the rt600i's aor rt800i's. may be a little more then you want to spend, but the rt800i's are selling for $600/pair. an incredible speaker for the price. good luck...

caiman, check out Brandnamez.com. they have awesome deals on Polk Audio speakers. I ordered my cs400i and psw450 from them. the stuff is legit and brand new. just awesome prices. with the prices so low, you might even be able to find something bigger for less money. the r40's are great, but if you could get some rt800i's that would be even better. if you don't have a sub, you might want to swing for the rt1000i's. that's what I have and they produce great bass. I just recently bought the sub, mainly because I just moved into a house and could finally turn up the volume. hope this helps.
