I believe my recently purchased JVC XV-SA75 crapped out in less than a month. During midplay of a VCD the player would only output in black and white with half the screen split down the middle that scroll to the other side of the screen Same results for VCD, MP3, or DVD. Turning off and on didn't help. I don't see any configuration that needs adjusting as it was working fine before.

I purchased this unit after the many rave reviews. Did I just get a lemon or is this unit that fragile?

Maybe a lemon... I just got mine tho, and it has been running fine! Love it..

My 60BK which is a sister machine (single-disc 480p w/ auto-scaling) is working flawlessly. Quite happy, but wish I'd have chosen the Malata 991.

Why do you wish that you purchased the Malata? I'm still considering which machine to get.

Mine stills plays fine. No probs. One ques for you fellow JVC owners, is there a code to set this player to play other regions, say Region 2 ? Thanks for any info.

Don't know about any codes...

Had mine for a little under a month now, very happy with it. Viewed about 6 or 7 movies so far without a hitch. The DVD-Audio rocks!
