Playing Pal DVDS?

I am probably going to get a Apex 1500 today, which I plan on making region free. I have a question, if I was to buy say a Region 2 dvd that is in PAL , can I watch this on my US NTSC equipment?

thanks

Only if the Apex does PAL-to-NTSC conversion, or if you add an outboard converter (which is expensive).

both of my apexs (one is a 600, not sure about the other one) do PAL-NTSC conversion.

The Apex 3201 is reported to do PAL-NTSC conversion, and is region-code hackable with a use-inputted code.

Check out this thread as well.

Supposedly all Apex's do the conversion. Some do it better than others and none convert anamorphic dvd's very well. An anamorphic PAL DVD will usually be squeezed to fill the whole screen, just as if you had the player set to play on a 16:9 TV. On a non-anamorphic PAL dvd it will play as normal.

Very few players will convert anamorphic PAL correctly.

Per my AD1500 manual, it does.

See my post in this thread.

Instead of just posting and waiting here, why not go to the Apex website (www.apexdigitalinc.com) and read about the product itself? It's going to be more accurate than a bunch of lame internet posters like ourselves
