HDTV 16:9 Ratio Televisions. Which one should I get?

I have a 36" RCA HP Theater TV which I am selling online in order to get a widescreen TV.

What should I look for? I have a normal DVD Player, DirectTV, Cable and a ReplayTV.

I like the widescreen option, and hope to get a tv from $1500-$2200 at most.

I did look at the Toshiba 40H80 and think it looks nice, I have to go to Best Buy and Sears this week to scope them out in person.

Any tips, and ideas from what models/brands you have would be most appreciated.

The best tube tv I've seen is the Panasonic 16:9 34 inch HDTV... Best Buy has it for about $2499.99

You should be able to get a 55 inch Mitsubishi WS 55809 for under $2300.

My friend picked up that 38" RCA widescreen with the built in HDTV processor and DirecTV receiver also. I was checking it out and it was actually pretty nice. I was surprised at how real the pricture looked. For $2300 with 5 year warranty isn't bad either.

Look at the link to my HT in my signature; many of us very happy with the Panny 47WX49 or the 47WX51 which is the same plus screen protector and newer remote.

The Toshiba 40H80 is last year's model.

Look for the models that end in 81 for this year's sets.

You can even get the 57H81 for around $2200.

Crazy Eddie is still around? I thought he was in jail!

I will try and take this to Sears and see if they pricematch. I know they have the WX51 for $1999 and I found it on the net in various places for $1799. Was going to try that, but if they will match the $1500 price, that would be great. Gonna check and see if crazy eddie has the 51.

FYI, that is actually a bit high for that tv. It looks good but is no where near as good as the flat tubes. It is also a monster (size/weight) and wouldn't fit on my stand. I would much rather have the 34" panny without the extra decoder stuff than the RCA. (which was the decision I made and would still make today)

Get the Panasonic 47wx49 widescreen HDTV. With the money you save you can have it professionally calibrated and it looks awesome.

Okay, now here is what I have so far...

Sears has the Panasonic PT-47WX49 for $1999.

There is a 10% event online tonight, when you select the product, it shows a 5% or 10% coupon, it came up as 10% after awhile on the site.

After tax and shipping the total is $1968.79

Only bummer is that this is the PT-47WX49 and not the PT-47WX51

I can pricematch Crazy Eddie with my American Express Blue card and get $250 back, making my delivered total $1718.79. Not too bad. Now I have another dilema, which I will start in another thread...
