What is "Line Level Sub Out"

What is "Line Level Sub Out"
I want to connect a sub to my receiver and the book says I have a "Line Level Sub Out" jack on the back of the receiver. What does this mean? Is there a special cable I need to connect this?

If your receiver has a "sub out" plug, go buy an audio cable that has the RCA plugs on the end and connect it to the receiver then the IN plug on the sub. You can buy a "subwoofer cable" at Best Buy etc, but it will cost a bit more.
This is all assuming you have near new equipment, because most Dolby Digital receivers are equipped this way.

Just to add... a line-level output is simply a output for a signal that is not amplified(it by-passes the amplifier section of your reciever).
You would only want to use this connection if you are using a powered sub.
