Question about remote signal senders

Is this what I want, or are there "better" models?

RCA 940 Remote Signal Sender
http://www.mjsales.net/dbswire.htm

This sells for ~$25 on ebay, sometimes a little less.

My situation is this: I currently have DishNetwork with a radio frequency remote. I will be picking up a DirectTV system with infrared remote. I will have the receiver in the bedroom (hooked up to a TV), as well as a TV in the living room and in the basement. Thus, I want a remote signal sender in order to control the receiver no matter what TV I am in front of.

I know that I would need two transmitters, as well as the base receiver.
