Need Help With Toshiba Setup - Jaggies
I am running a Toshiba 6200 into my Toshiba 55HX70 and have tried every interlaced/progressive combo (1/3 , 3/3) etc. but I am still having a great deal of trouble with some movies (Castaway, POTA, Galdiator) and the incredible amounts of jaggidness of the picture. The view of the outside of the coliseum in Gladiator is horrible and POTA was just too difficult to watch. I am running the picture through the HD #1 setup on the TV.
I am thinking my next step would be to rent these videos on VHS and see if the picture looks the same to eliminate the DVD player, but I'm afraid the answer is the player. Does anyone with a similar setup have this problem but on a smaller scale? With the positive reviews of the player on audioreview and others, it must be a problem with the player.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

have you tried reducing the brightness of the dvd player? I just got a toshiba 4700 and it was extremely bright compared to my Sony that it replaced. It made the picture look really bad. I had to turn the brightness on my dvd player to -4 (out of a -7 max) to get to the same level as before. I didn't want to touch my tv's setting for brightness because of all the other stuff hooked up to it (game systems, etc.).

I have the Interlaced and Progressive settings at 0 across the board. I have not touched my TV at all since I've used VE on it. I think I'll continue to play around with it. The more I reduce the contrast and brightness, the image gets a little too soft for my tastes. I'm sure there is a happy medium there somewhere.
