Okay, for the PS2 to get 5.1 surround I just need to plug in the optical cable from the Ps2 to the Optical In plug, right? And to get the sound for regular TV to come through the speakers do I plug a red/white cable in the audio out on my TV and into the Video/AuX/DVD plug, correct? And what are some good optical and rca cables?

You are hooking up PS2 optical out to Receiver optical in ,,, right
Then TV audio(red and white) out to Receiver(audiored and white),,,,right?

You do have a stereo don't you. It sounded like you were plugging the audio out from your TV into your PS2... Does your TV have an audio out? I am pretty sure the PS2 does not have any audio inputs. The red and white RCA hookups on your PS2 are probably outputs.....

Most quality optical cable and RCA cables are fine.

Yeah. Its a mini system though(w/ dd decoder), it has all the inputs I need though.

Sounds good. You will get 5.1 sound from the PS2 and 2 channel stereo from the TV. Are you using the PS2 as your DVD player?

Yeah, the PS2 is my primary DVD player until I get a standalone.
