DSS access card

Is it legal to sell these on eBay? I have two sets of receivers and cards that are sitting around and would like to put them on eBay. I know I could sell the receivers, but not sure about the cards?? Thanks

Yes it's legal to sell the cards and receivers. Provided you are not selling pirated cards.

But can the buyer use them? Are they transferrable?

bugsy, let me know when those go on ebay... or if you'd like to sell them outright. You must sell a reciever with a card, though it does not have to be the original reciever for that card.

X, it depends on the cards. The F cards (first-gen) can't be subscribed, and as far as I know, can no longer be hacked because the F-stream was turned off. They are basically worthless, though in the past could access the music programming.

The H-cards (second-gen) also cannot be subscribed now, but they are the most valuable because they are the most hackable and can no longer be purchased new.

The HU-cards (current, third-gen) can be subscribed, even if the card was subscribed by a previous owner. They aren't worth much though, because you can get a new reciever and HU card for $50-75. These cards are somewhat hackable.

I picked up one of the multiple room sets for $150 or so. Found out I couldn't use it in my apt and the store had a policy where they would not take back satellite eqiup.

So, it sat around for a year. I decided to sell it on ebay. I listed the whole boxset. I received an email from someone who saw my auction and told me I could make more by selling everything seperatly.

I sold the cards, receivers and dish seperatly.
I got about $25 for the dish and dual lnb.
$40 for each receiver
and $115 for each card.

Not too bad for a few minutes time to create the auctions. I made more then I purchased the set for.

I dunno if ebay changed, but when I listed my auction, you didn't have to sell a receiver with a card.

I'd check and look for current auctions to see examples.
