HELP! RF Modulator Problems

I just tried to hook-up my RF Modulator to my dvd player on my tv in the bedroom (that does not have audio inputs). This dvd player works fine out in the living room but when connected to the RF Modulator the audio is messed up. The music sound track plays fine and the effects sound track plays fine, but the actors audio (the "screeenplay" soundtrack) does not work. If you turn up the volume all the way you can barely hear the audio, but then the music comes on and blasts you out. Have any of you heard of this? I've checked the connections multiple times and it appears they are all hooked up correctly. Is my modulator messed up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Go to the Audio Setup menu for your dvd player, and make sure you have "PCM" set to "on."

I'm not sure what you mean by "music soundtrack" and "effects soundtrack." Are you talking about the different audio tracks on the dvd, or something else?

stevevt - thanks for putting me on the right track. Although "PCM on" did not work for me it got me into the dvd menu and I started changing my options and when I changed from 5.1 output to 2-channel output that worked and the sound came out perfectly. I can't believe I didn't think of that earlier, sorry. Thank you for all your help.
