DVD Player for someone starting out?

Hey guys, I know this probably gets asked about 20 times a day, especially with Christmas coming, but I'm shopping for a DVD player for my brother. He doesn't have one yet, and has an older receiver, but will be upgrading. What is a good player in the price range of about $200 for him? Eventually he'll be going all out with a better receiver and better 5.1 surround. The surround he's got now is sort of thrown together from a stereo system. So basically, what's a good all-around player with DTS and all that jive which will be good for a while? Thanks in advance for your help guys

Oh yeah and if you know of any that buy.com carries, please mention them as buy.com has those coupons out right now, which would help. Thanks again

if he's just getting started putting a component system together, i'd look at 5 disk changers. it will save him from having to buy a CD changer later.

i'm looking at two right now... the panasonic CV51 and the toshiba 2715, and i'm leaning toward the panasonic.

both play DVD/CD/CD-R/RW/MP3 in any combo and can be picked up for just over $200 shipped. take a look at some of the vendors on yahoo shopping for prices in the $190 range. i would presume about $25 shipping.

Look at Pioneer DV-343 or DV-440(plays mp3) both are good, solid players with excellent picture quality.

For a Progressive Scan player, the JVC XV-SA60BK is the best $200 you can spend on a DVD player
