Monty Python/Holy Grail or equip. defect?

I recently purchased the new Monty Python & the Holy Grail dvd and have had problems playing it without the subtitles inadvertenly "popping" up. I own a Toshiba SD-3205 player and have never experienced anything like this on any other of the 60+ titles that I own. I initially thought that it might just be a defective disc, but once exchanged, I had the same problem with the 2nd copy, too. My player was also cleaned no more than 30 days ago and I have yet to have experienced a single problem with it. So there it is....... Why do the damn subtitles keep popping up unprompted?! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks....
