This is on sale at Sams Club for $99.99. I already have 2 players though, but I don't have any that can play all region and convert PAL to NTSC. Is this a good DVD player for that?

Real new in the US, so no reviews or user critiques whatsoever. User comments are just starting to trickle out. From the look of things, Sam's is gonna have tons of them, so no need to hurry. I really considered this, but went with the Apex 600A with a mod chip.

Basically, the replacement for the 3000N, with the look of the Electrohome EH-8181.

From what I've heard, there is the factory menu which allows the region selection. No way to disable the Macro, tho.

Here's the most I've found on it (I asked your very question on a few Usenet groups and got next-to-no information on it):

MY BAD: looks like the region bypass may not be factory installed. May need the firmware upgrade.....

Haven't seen any reviews for this one either, but just as a general rule of thumb, I avoid buying products from companies that tend to produce so many different things (i.e. cars, firearms, tv's, dvd players). They tend to produce none of them well.
