DVD pixelation problem

Hi I've been having a little bit of a problem and I don't know if it has to do with a particular movie, or my DVD player. I recently purchased Silence of the Lambs on DVD, at one point towards the end of the movie I noticed pixelation, in other words the image broke down a little bit for about 2 seconds. It was noticeable enough so I went to exchange the DVD for a new one. I popped the new copy of Silence of the Lambs in, and I watched the movie but almost near the end the pixelation happened again only worse because it happened a few other times after that. Now I looked at the DVD's to see if they were scratched or dirty (both times) and they were both immaculately clean. Now I have some other movies I purchased recently and they all look perfect, no pixelation whatsoever. So I'm wondering is it that these particular Silence of the Lambs movies got a bad transfer, or does this problem have something to do with my DVD player?

P.S. My DVD player model is a Panasonic DVD-A120

I am not sure of the Panasonic models, but if it is an older model it could be a firmware issue with your player and not the disc.

Would the pixelation be occurring at or immediately after the layer change? Your player could be mishandling the layer change and is having trouble keeping the picture steady for a few moments afterward.

The Panasonic DVD-A120 did have this issue....when I was first looking for DVD players, I bought the same model you have and noticed that exact issue! I bought two others of the same model thinking it may be a bad batch but the DVD-A120 failed each time!

A long shot is that the disc just needs cleaning. Take the DVD and run cold water over it (DO NOT use any abrassives like soap or dish washing liquid - JUST WATER).

Take a soft, lint free cloth and lightly wipe the DVD dry. Begin from the center and wipe outward. See if this helps...I've been very successful in cleaning DVDs in this manner and it is recommended by DVD manufacturers.
